Home to both the United States Sixth Fleet and the United States Naval Forces Europe, Naval Support Activity Naples (NSA Naples) is home to thousands of military and DoD Civilian Employees. The main function of Naval Support Activity Naples is to act as a support base and provide administration assistance to other military bases in the immediate area. But it is also responsible for managing the local education system and additional operations that help to support civilians and the families of those living in Naples to support the base activities. Some of these “additional operations” of support include the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) department at NSA Naples. MWR programs promote active living through participation in recreation, fitness, sports, cultural arts, and other leisurely pursuits.
Typically, MWR facilities and programs are only available to members of the U.S. military and their families. While stationed in Naples however, United States Civil Servants (USCS) and their families are eligible patrons of MWR. This section will discuss some of these “after work/on-base” programs, as well as detail the multiple dining options at NSA Naples.
MWR Overview
MWR is a comprehensive network of support and leisure programs and services designed to improve the quality of life of service members, other eligible patrons, and their families. MWR consists of a wide range of programs and services including fitness and outdoor recreation, libraries, bowling centers, dining facilities, movie theaters, leisure travel, and Child and Youth programs. Available programs and services vary at each installation. This section will discuss in greater detail what “after work, on-base” options are available to you while serving at NSA Naples.
