Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport offers student internships for high school and university students.
Undersea Technology Apprentice Program (UTAP)
The Undersea Technology Apprentice Program provides an opportunity for up to 20 students to study part time for three weeks during the summer alongside NUWC Division Newport scientists and engineers. In the process, students gain valuable insights by working with advanced technology while developing real-world applications of science and math lessons learned at school.
The program is open to rising sophomores, juniors and seniors only. The application deadline is Wednesday, March 31, 2021. Please note that all application materials must be included for a student to be considered for an internship. Students will be notified at the beginning of May.
Naval Research Enterprise Intern Program (NREIP)
This program brings science and engineering students on board for a 10-week summer internship and pays students a stipend. Number of interns varies each year dependent on ONR funding.
