    This is an XML DTD for Navy Technical Manuals. Its PUBLIC identifier is

    PUBLIC "-//USA-DOD//DTD IN XML FOR NAVY ETMs 050512//EN"

    It is a modified XML translation of a subset of the NAVSEA ETM Class 2 Revision E (May 12, 2005) DTD that is the NAVSEA 04TD approved SGML DTD for MIL-M-38784-like ETMS. This XML DTD is in conformance with the XML syntax requirements of the Extensible Markup Language (XML) 1.0 W3C Recommendation dated February 4, 2004.

    Please read before using the DTD.

    This XML DTD has been developed by the Technology Implementation Support Team at the Carderock Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center to support the Navy's production of electronic technical manuals. This DTD file is provided in the Navy's XML/SGML Repository whose purpose is to facilitate the development of DoN DTDs and style sheets while reducing their development costs.

    Any member of the XML/SGML users' community may use, alter, and distribute this DTD file as they see fit. The DoN provides this DTD "as is", with no implied or explicit guarantee whatsoever. Users are solely responsible for any adverse consequences of their implementation or changes. Moreover, the DoN requires that changes made to the archival DTD file be reflected in the DTD's PUBLIC identifier and otherwise documented in comment declarations in the DTD file.

    While the DoN welcomes comments concerning problems with or improvements to this DTD, the DoN acknowledges no responsibility to respond to such comments or implement any suggested changes. However, the DoN intends to update this DTD as desired and provide the updated DTD file along with its predecessors in the Navy XML/SGML Repository.
