Fleet Maintenance Support Branch (FMSB) & Fleet Radiological Support Division (FRSD) Introduction

The Fleet Maintenance Support Branch (FMSB) and Fleet Radiological Support Division (FRSD) are located at Norfolk Naval Shipyard and supported by Code 2360 in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department. Our group originated as a part of the Intermediate Maintenance Activity Nuclear Planning Yard (Code 3200, IMANPY) in the mid to late 1980’s at Charleston Naval Shipyard. With the closure of Charleston Naval Shipyard in 1993, IMANPY was reorganized and assimilated within Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Even though our name has changed, our mission remains to support Naval personnel in the maintenance and repair of reactor and propulsion plant systems through training and engineering assistance. We are solely funded by the Navy’s Type Commanders, both submarine and surface, and by Naval Sea Systems Command, 08 Directorate. If you look through our course listing and the other training and engineering products we offer, you will get a good idea of the services we provide the fleet.
