Life Insurance
Most employees at NSWC Corona are eligible for participation in the Federal Employees’ Group Life Insurance (FEGLI) Program – the largest group life insurance program in the world, covering over four (4) million Federal employees, retirees, and their family members.
FEGLI provides group term life insurance and consists of basic life insurance and three options. New employees are automatically covered by basic life insurance, unless the employee waives such coverage. Employees can elect to participate in Optional insurance in addition to basic.
The cost of basic insurance is shared between the employee and the government. Employees pay 2/3 of the total cost and the government pays 1/3. Age does not affect the cost of basic insurance. Optional insurance is paid in full by the employee and cost is dependent upon age.
For more information on FEGLI, including eligibility and enrollment requirements, see the Office of Personnel Management life insurance website.
