The Department of Navy Pathways Internship Program was established to provide degree-seeking students with exposure to public service, enhance their educational experience, and possibly provide financial aid to support their educational goals.

This formal structured program gives participants the opportunity to work in positions related to their academic and career goals. Within 120 calendar days after completing the educational and program requirements of Pathways, NSWC-Corona may non-competitively convert an intern to a career/career-conditional appointment.

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student pursuing an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Graduate degree )
  • Must be taking at least a half-time academic course load as defined by the school in which you attend
  • Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

 

Program Highlights

  • Paid Internship
  • Provides an opportunity to gain work experience directly related to academic fields of study such as Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economic or related degrees.
  • May be eligible for tuition assistance (50% Tuition only paid and $400 book allowance per semester)
  • May be eligible for benefits (401k, life and health insurance, paid leave accrual)
  • Students who successfully complete the program may be eligible for conversion to a permanent job in the civil service 

 

Initial Pay Setting

  • Students will be appointed at the grade/band level consistent with their academic progress

NT-02

GS-05 step 10

Completion of 3 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's, one period (2 months or 320 hours) of NT-01 (GS-04) student trainee work experience and 75 semester hours of progressive coursework; taking upper division class work (300/400 level classes) in or related to field of study

NT-02

Default starting salary of the applicable NT-02 series for a new hire

Completion of a bachelor's degree and currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a graduate program, seeking a Master's degree

 

                   
Salary Increases

Students may receive pay adjustments or be promoted based on academic progress at management discretion.
