Daughter of NUWC Division Newport employee will compete in rowing at the 2024 Summer Olympics
Emily Kallfelz, daughter of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport’s Julie Kallfelz, director of the Northeast Tech Bridge, will be representing the U.S. in the Women’s Rowing Four event in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Heats begin July 28, and the finals are slated for Aug. 1, 2024.

NUWC Division Newport engineer wins Society of Women Engineers Helen Martha Sternberg Award for 2024
Molly “Meagan” Haradon (second from right), a junior computer software engineer in the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport’s Undersea Warfare Weapons, Vehicles and Defensive Systems Department, is presented the 2024 Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Helen Martha Sternberg Award by Technical Director Marie Bussiere (from left), Emily Pietrzak Callahan, SWE’s New England Shoreline Section representative, and Commanding Officer Capt. Chad Hennings during Division Newport’s Annual Awards ceremony held on June 20, 2024. The annual award recognizes a female mathematician, computer scientist, or computer engineer who has worked at Division Newport between six and 24 months and has shown significant progress in her major area of study and plans on attaining her graduate degree.

NUWC Division Newport honors outstanding achievements in 2023 Annual Awards ceremony
Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport Technical Director Marie Bussiere (left) and Commanding Officer Capt. Chad Hennings (right) present members of the Shallow Water Urgent Build (SWUB) In-Water Test and Evaluation Events Team the prestigious Commander/Technical Director Award, during the 2023 Annual Awards ceremony held on June 20, 2024. The award recognizes an outstanding contribution to Division Newport in the area of project management, engineering, scientific achievement, cost reduction, lifesaving, civic duties or any other appropriate achievements that reflects favorably upon the Division, its mission or its personnel. Team members from the Undersea Warfare Weapons, Vehicles, and Defensive Systems Department include Rachael Amore, Sean Carcanague, Kyle Edwards, Kyle Fenton, Jason Lemish, Charles Lury, Jorge Martinez, Jay Patel, Abigail Reid, Winston Spencer, Amanda Thompson, Matthew Villanueva, Stefanie Zamorski and Michael Zhang.
