The Platform Integrity Department sustains the in-house knowledge and provides fundamental enabling technologies for enhanced ship integrity and performance and conducts full spectrum research, development, testing in the areas of:
-
Survivability - Analysis and development to protect against combat threats and peacetime hazards. Conduct and assess full-scale shock trails on at-sea systems and components.
-
Structures - Concepts, large-scale testing and design analysis methods to ensure stronger, lighter, more reliable ships and submarines.
-
Materials - Development and fleet support in metals, additive manufacturing, corrosion, welding, coatings, elastomers, polymers, ceramics, composites, fluids, fire protection and radiation detection, indication and computation (RADIAC).
-
Environmental Quality - Research and development (R&D) for shipboard environmental quality, pollution prevention, power and energy systems, battery safety, and solid/liquid waste management and treatment.
