Aegis Technical Representative

AEGIS Technical Representative’s (AEGIS TECHREP) mission is to validate total ship combat system design by providing the means for conducting engineering development, testing and evaluation.  AEGIS TECHREP monitor production, accept the AEGIS Weapon System (AWS), integrate and test combat systems equipment and computer programs, and evaluate operational suitability.  AEGIS TECHREP provides the day to day technical management, direction and oversight of the AEGIS program efforts to the prime AWS contractor and its subcontractors; provides the fleet interface for interim logistics support; supports initial crew training and Operational Test and Evaluation Force (OPTEVFOR) evaluations; and performs such other functions and tasks as may be directed by higher authority.

The AEGIS TECHREP organization is comprised of civil servants, military personnel and contractors.  The responsibilities include monitoring of over three billion dollars of simultaneous large-scale engineering development, integration and test, production and maintenance contracts involving different complex combat system baseline configurations for U.S. Navy, Missile Defense Agency, and Foreign Military Sales.  Programs include AEGIS Cruiser/Destroyer/Frigate, U.S. Coast Guard, AEGIS Ashore, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) Platforms, and AEGIS Foreign partners including Australia, Canada, Japan, Norway, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Spain.  These systems are the Navy’s most advanced and complex weapons systems.

AEGIS Technical Representative (AEGIS TECHREP) is located at the Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems (LM RMS) main plant in Moorestown, NJ, with field offices located at the Raytheon Company’s plants in Marlborough, MA and Andover, MA; Bath Iron Works shipyard in Bath, ME; and Huntington Ingalls International shipyard in Pascagoula, MS.  The VADM James H. Doyle, Jr. Combat System Engineering Development Site (CSEDS) and the RADM George R. Meinig, Jr. Integrated Air and Missile Defense Engineering Center (IAMDEC) are Navy owned facilities of AEGIS TECHREP with a contingent of Navy personnel.  AEGIS TECHREP hosts numerous U.S., foreign government and industry representatives.  AEGIS TECHREPs nearest Military Bases are Joint Base McGuire–Dix–Lakehurst, (Base Housing) (22.2 miles) and Naval Weapons Station Earle (Navy Medical) (60.8 miles).
