Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) is committed to hiring individuals who demonstrate their highest potential. Recognizing the need to be proactive in developing and attracting new professionals, NSWC PHD is providing the following general information for individuals ranging from High School students to new professionals looking for career opportunities. All opportunities listed below are paid internship programs that vary in duration, qualifications, and area of interest. We invite you to discover your future with us!
Internship Requirements:
In addition to specific program eligibility requirements, all applicants must
- Be at least 18 years of age (except for ONR-SEAP high school applicants)
- Provide proof of U.S. citizenship
- Be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Meet GPA requirements and be in good academic standing (if still attending school)
Internship Process
The process from the time of application to the first day of your internship may take several weeks to several months, depending on the program and the background check needed to obtain a security clearance. Please be timely in your response when you are contacted by Human Resources and/or your supervisor throughout the process.

**Apply to an Internship Program: The application process and requirements are slightly different depending on the program. Please see the links below to go directly to the program applications. ***Internship Schedules: Depending on the internship program and manager discretion, your schedule may consist of full-time hours during the summer(s) while you’re in school and part-time throughout the rest of the year; however, part-time work outside of the summer is not guaranteed. Some internships may only consist of one summer.
****Conversion: Conversion after graduation means you may have the opportunity to be hired as a full-time employee at NSWC PHD at the end of your internship after graduating with a bachelor’s degree or higher! This is contingent upon meeting specific program requirements and may be subject to position availability and/or manager discretion.
