NSWCDD New Employee Development Program
The New Employee Development Program is designed to assist employees who have been within the organization 1-3 years. This program creates learning opportunities for new hires such as, retirement courses, financial planning, mandatory training, new employee developmental assignments and mentoring opportunities.
New Employee Developmental Assignments (NEDA) - A temporary assignment to provide an employee a broader perspective of NSWCDD missions and operations. The objective of a NEDA is to enhance the employee’s skillset, build new technical competencies, and expand his/her professional network so they may share and apply new knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA) upon return to the home organization.
Mentoring- Employees are encouraged to develop mentoring relationships throughout their career at NSWCDD. Through these relationships, employees develop their knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or thought processes through an exchange of different perspectives. This program provides employees with resources and assistance for cultivating mentoring relationships that grow and change according to your professional objectives. Employees can benefit from different types of mentoring relationships at different stages of their career. All new NSWCDD employees are paired with a trained Peer Mentor, a peer employee who serves as an additional guide and resource for questions about day-to-day processes and helps the new employee become acclimated to the organization.
