DOD CYBER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Weapons Control and Integration Department team of interns watch the big screen as their digital convoy of World War II era U.S. Navy ships battles with enemy U-boats during the Innovation Lab’s Wargaming Hackathon on July 12. After three rounds, the team earned first overall in the competition that featured summer interns from all seven of Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division technical departments.The Department of Defense Cyber Scholarship Program (DoD CySP) is both a scholarship program for the DoD and a capacity building tool for the nation.  The program is a result of commitment from DoD and Congress to support higher education as a means to prepare the DoD workforce to deal with threats against the Department’s critical information systems and networks.

Qualifying Requirements

Must be:

  • A U.S. citizen at time of application
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Willing to accept post-graduate employment with the DoD
  • Full-time student with a 3.2 overall GPA for undergraduate and 3.5 for graduate

Program Requirements

Only students at designated National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-Cs) may apply for a DoD cyber scholarship.  Is your school an NCAE-C school? Review the list of NCAE-C schools here (https://www.caecommunity.org/cae-map)

Program Highlights

  • Full tuition and education related fees (does not include items such as meal plans, housing, or parking)
  • Mentoring
  • Employment placement after graduation
