What is it?
Develop and mature heat exchanger technology to a level to allow for efficient integration in the exhaust stream of combustion engines.
How does it work?
Alternatives can be more compact and efficient than traditional heat exchangers which are too large and heavy for exhaust stream waste heat recovery applications. Traditionally heat exchanger technology is the weak link in waste heat recovery systems.
What will it accomplish?
Up to 60% of available fuel energy is expended as waste heat. A substantial fuel efficiency improvement could be achieved.
