What is it?

The Advanced Reverse Osmosis (RO) Unit is a low-energy method to produce fresh water for consumption and machinery needs.

How does it work?

It is a pressurized membrane that pushes salt water through to filter for fresh water. This technology will reduce the amount of energy required to produce fresh water by replacing the pump and motor system and incorporating a device that captures energy from the high pressure discharge water created by the RO process.

What will it accomplish?

This technology requires less energy to provide clean water to the ship and is more reliable than the current configuration, thereby decreasing operation and maintenance cost and increasing system operational availability.
