What is it?

It is an appendage located above the sonar dome that will reduce hull wave drag without an increase in total hull resistance. 

How does it work?

Similar to the spoiler on your car, the bow bulb provides additional friction that offsets the ship’s wave drag, especially in high seas.

What will it accomplish?

The bow bulb shape reduces hull wave drag, reducing propulsion energy usage.
