Navy Officials Break Ground for New Cyber Warfare Engineering Laboratory

IMAGE: DAHLGREN, Va. – Artist’s rendering of the Cyber Warfare Engineering Laboratory to be built at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). Navy officials, including NSWCDD leadership, broke ground for the facility Dec. 12. It will bring together the building blocks of existing capabilities into one place to provide a robust and flexible software and hardware testing capability for Department of Defense and Navy weapon systems, cyber and network platforms in addition to industrial control systems supporting DoD infrastructure.

Lloyd presented Beard – the U.K. assistant chief of the Naval Staff (Capability) – with a steel metal sample irradiated and penetrated in the command’s High Energy Laser Lethality laboratory. NSWCDD subject matter experts briefed Beard and his delegation of Royal Navy officers on programs and capabilities that included NSWCDD directed energy weapons such as the high energy laser, electromagnetic railgun, and hyper-velocity projectile in addition to high power radio frequency capabilities and the weaponization of unmanned systems. NSWC Dahlgren Holds Cupcake Competition at Veterans Day Event

(Nov. 8, 2019) – Cupcakes are pictured at a combat cupcake competition sponsored by the NSWCDD Strategic and Computing Systems Department (A) and the NSWCDD Weapons Control and Integration Department (H). Scientists, engineers, business, and support specialists from A and H voted for winners in the best tasting and best presentation cupcake categories. The A and H personnel also paid tribute to America’s living veterans – specifically to those veterans in attendance and throughout the command – with speeches and good news about opportunities for the command’s veterans, including a new initiative called the Veteran Integration Program.
