Women of Color Magazine Honors NSWC Dahlgren Engineer with Technology Award

(July 2, 2020) – Hattie Webb is awarded the 2020 Women of Color Technology All Star Award for her lasting impact across the Tomahawk Program, Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), and the local community. At NSWCDD she serves as the senior systems engineer for the Tomahawk Missile Program in the Strike Weapons Systems Division and as a group leader who mentors young scientists and engineers. “I look forward to coming to work every day to mentor and guide others,” said  Webb, “We work as a team to provide quality products to the fleet.”

NSWC Dahlgren Division Engineers Awarded Patent Inspired By Ducks

IMAGE: DAHLGREN, Va. - Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) engineers Steven Price, left, and Andrew Wagner were recognized by NSWCDD leadership with the Patent Award in the command’s virtual honor awards ceremony, July 27. Price and Wagner are the recipients of a patent awarded by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the capillary heat exchanger. Potential applications include the venting of air on naval vessels. It could be used to exchange stale air from inside a ship with outside air without losing the cooling in warmer climates, or the heat in cooler climates. The invention – a honeycomb-like device – can also be used as a heat exchanger to cool engines or other equipment that faces extreme temperatures. (U.S. Navy photo/Released)

Martini Award for his “vast knowledge, corporate approach, and superb customer service.” As a teenager, Coons spent time at Dahlgren as a Sea Cadet. “I got to travel all over the country to shadow active duty folks, get on the job training, and learn about different career fields in the Navy. It definitely facilitated me joining the Navy later.” Coons is one of 90 individuals and 39 teams honored with various awards and featured in a special NSWCDD Honorary Awards video program released to the workforce on July 27. NSWC Dahlgren Division Engineer Attributes “Hackers-for-Good” to Award Honoring Leadership of NAVSEA Cyber Team

Dahlgren Bio-Detection and Identification Engineer Recognized for Mentoring Others

Battle Management System Leader Wins NSWC Dahlgren Division’s Highest Award

IMAGE: DAHLGREN, Va. – Ralph Stewart won the John Adolphus Dahlgren Award in recognition of his achievements as program director of the Battle Management System (BMS) at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). During Stewart’s tenure, the BMS team rapidly prototyped and delivered game-changing weapon control systems that deploy around the world with Special Operations Forces in the Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force. “I am truly honored to receive this award and think it most reflects the accomplishments of our team,” said Stewart. “I am grateful for all those who played a part in this achievement and would like to thank our highly capable team at NSWC Dahlgren whose skill and can-do attitude have allowed us to rapidly field dominant Special Operations Forces capabilities.
