Retired admiral emphasizes importance of education, inclusion during visit to NUWC Division Newport

NEWPORT, R.I. - Retired four-star admiral Cecil Haney (seated center) held lunch with new professionals during his visit to the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport to celebrate Black History Month on Feb. 14. Seated with the admiral are NUWC Newport’s Technical Director Ron Vien (right), and Kendra Spencer, NUWC Newport’s African-American Employment Program Manager (left). The retired admiral is a member of the "Centennial Seven," the Navy's seven African-American submarine commanders during the 20th century.
