DIVERSITY INITIATIVES AT NAVSEABlue line graphic

NAVSEA has long been committed to promoting diversity, inclusion and equality. We believe the effort needed to bridge gaps in inequality is ongoing – we know there is more to be done, and NAVSEA is committed to aiming higher.

Among our many diversity initiatives, NAVSEA Special Emphasis Programs were established to improve employment and advancement opportunities for historically under represented affinity groups. Our groups include the Federal Women’s Program, Individuals with Disabilities Program, Hispanic Employment Program, Black Employment Program, Asian American Pacific Islander Employment Program, American Indian Alaskan Native Employment Program and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) Employment Program.

At the local level, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are employee-led, command-sponsored initiatives that focus on removing barriers for current and future shipyard employees. ERG members participate in outreach events, training, employee development opportunities and more. ERGs have proven to help with employee engagement, leadership development and workforce diversity.

Individuals with disabilities are a vital part of the NAVSEA team, and we provide accommodations and assistance to utilize the talents and skills of these valuable employees. In fact, NAVSEA was recently selected as one of the top 20 federal government employers by readers of CAREERS & the disABLED Magazine.
