Luby Relieves Ver Hage as NSWC PHD Commanding Officer

PORT HUENEME, Calif. - Capt. Cord Luby assumed command of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) from Capt. Eric  Ver Hage during a change of command ceremony  Dec. 2, 2014.

 

Rear Adm. Lorin Selby, commander of the Naval Sea Systems Command Naval Surface Warfare Center, served as the presiding officer and keynote speaker at the ceremony.

 

Luby was commissioned in 1991 through the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps program at the University of Utah where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in geography. He later attended the Naval Post Graduate School where he earned a master's degree in management.

He most recently served as DDG 1000 Combat Systems Director for Fleet readiness in Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare System (PEO IWS). 

 

Captain Ver Hage heads to another assignment at NAVSEA as the Director of Test and Evaluation for the Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile System program, a 10-nation, international cooperative development effort. 

 

During his brief tour at NSWC PHD, CAPT Ver Hage was instrumental in the stand-up of a Watch Center in the Division's Land Attack Department; led the team involved in a Norwegian missile firing from USS Coronado and introduced seven Principles of Operational Excellence throughout the Command.In his remarks, Ver Hage thanked his co-leader, Dr. William Luebke, NSWC PHD technical director, and thanked department leaders and the workforce for their support during his brief tour.

NSWC Port Hueneme is a field activity of Naval Sea Systems Command and provides the United States Navy global fleet with weapon system in-service engineering, logistics, as well as test and evaluation. NSWC Port Hueneme is located at Naval Base Ventura County, Calif., where it employs more than 1,900 personnel.
