Carderock Partners with George Mason University for Second Year of Senior Design Project Oversight

Seniors from George Mason University visited Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, to present their senior design projects to Carderock engineers on May 9, 2024. The two teams presented their projects; one team built an environmental chamber for mechanical testing and the other was tasked with fabricating composite panels for ready service lockers that were malleable enough to bend 45 degrees on all four corners and edges. Carderock, the Navy's ship design and innovation powerhouse, provides the technical foundation for the future fleet through world-class research, development, and testing

A New Strategy for High-Performance Computing at Carderock

Personnel from Penguin Computing were onsite on May 9, 2025 to install new High-Performance Computing server clusters in Carderock's Ship Engineering and Analysis Technology Center (SEATech). The upgrades are part of a first-of-its-kind lease agreement for Carderock, ensuring faster computation times, greater efficiency, and fewer obstacles for technical teams tackling critical naval research programs.
