Be Prepared: Hurricane Season Lessons Learned

Volunteers formed The North Lagoon Navy group after Hurricane Michael in 2018 to aid local residents in tarping roofs, cutting trees, etc. The group was made up of local personnel from Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division, as well as other individuals.

Back relieves Peters as commander of NSWC PCD

Capt. David N. Back relieved Capt. Aaron S. Peters as commanding officer, Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) in a small ceremony at the headquarters flagpole May 8. After leading the command through Category 5 Hurricane Michael and the rebuilding process, and now through the COVID-19 pandemic, Peters will retire without the fanfare typically afforded a Navy leader after more than three decades in service to the nation.

No Break in Communication: NSWC PCD keeps Task Force New York connected

Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) provided valuable communication equipment to Task Force New York (TFNY) while supporting operations in the fight against COVID-19 in the New York City area. 
The Expeditionary Carry-On Network (ExCON) kit provides Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet), Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)/Voice over Secure Internet Protocol (VoSIP) connectivity with Defense Information System Agency (DISA) or other tactical networks. It uses a commercial satellite communications (SATCOM) on the move antenna for use when mobile operations are necessary and has an agnostic transport capability, current in use by TFNY, that allows any commercial bandwidth of opportunity (LTE, Wifi, or hardline) to provide secure, high-speed voice, video and data, enabling reliable transmission of voice and data in a variety of situations.

New technology can autonomously track UAS from land, sea

Threat Tracker is an expeditionary unmanned aerial systems (UAS) designed by Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division personnel to autonomously detect, track, and classify UAS from a mobile patrol vessel. Threat Trackers will be on display at Sea Air Space Exposition April 6-8.
