INDIAN HEAD, Maryland - Dr. Vasant Joshi, a senior materials scientist; and Dr. Greg Young, a propulsion engineer and program lead - both at  Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division's (NSWC IHEODTD) - received the 2014 Dr. Delores M. Etter Award for Top Scientists and Engineers.

USS Freedom (LCS 1) Completes Rough Water Trials

Off the coast of Oregon: USS Freedom (LCS 1) recently completed Seakeeping and Structural Loads Trials, commonly referred to as Rough Water Trials (RWT). Freedom, shown here during the RWT in late March, collected data while operating in Sea States 5 and 6 (approx. 8-20 foot waves). The machinery plant and auxiliaries all performed well in the context of sustained operations at sea.
