Navy Ship to Shore Connector delivers CH-46 for Air Force training

Skip Whitmore, Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division Landing Craft Air Cushion 100 Class Test & Evaluation Task Lead, marshals LCAC 103 vehicle while it transports a CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter onto shore south of Hurlburt Field, Fla., Feb. 24. Program Manager, Ships (PMS) 317 Ship to Shore Connector (SSC) hovercraft and NSWC PCD LCAC In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) civilian operators played a vital role in this delivery. To conduct research, development, test and evaluation, in-service support of mine warfare systems, mines, naval special warfare systems, diving and life support systems, amphibious/expeditionary maneuver warfare systems, other missions that occur primarily in coastal (littoral) regions and to execute other responsibilities as assigned by the Commander, Naval Surface Warfare Center.

NSWC PCD, HII reach R&D agreement through unmanned threat detection and intervention system

Threat Tracker is an autonomous threat detection system developed by a small team of engineers and scientists within Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division’s Coastal and Maritime Security branch. Threat Tracker is an autonomous, multi-platform threat detection system that uses radar and sensor technologies coupled with video analytics and machine learning algorithms to detect, track and classify potential threats. This system will be integrated with HII’s advanced unmanned surface vehicle to provide a fully autonomous USV escort capable of detecting and stopping a wide variety of threats. (U.S. Navy graphic)

NSWC Dahlgren Computer Scientist Recognized for Work in Iraq

IMAGE: Joe Gills, a computer scientist at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, spent six months deployed in the Middle East as an on-the-ground engineer, supporting special operations forces. For his work, Gills received the Secretary of the Defense Medal for the Global War on Terrorism.
