WHY GUAM?

Located in the heart of the Western Pacific, Guam is an island territory of the United States, the largest of the Mariana and Micronesian Islands, and home to some of the warmest people in the world. Guam’s location in the West Pacific, with close proximity to international vacation sites, allows its residents excellent travel opportunities. Locations like Japan, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Australia, the Philippines, the Northern Marianas Islands, the Pacific Atolls and many other exotic locations are all easily accessible.

Guam is also home to a tropical climate, with average yearly temperatures of 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Guam’s tropical weather allows you to enjoy an array of beaches and water activities, sports, adventure, local attractions, and nightlife. GUAM also stands for Get Up And Move!

 

- EXCLUSIVENESS:  The Detachments civilian workforce will consist of subject matter experts (SMEs).

- JOB SATISFACTION: You will be working at the “Tip of the Spear” in the focal point of the Pacific theater, executing high pace and rewarding work.

- TIGHT KNIT TEAM: Less bureaucracy and politics. Having close ties with other team members will be critical for success.

- SKILL DEVELOPMENT: Because of the small size of the team, and close-knit working environment of the Detachment, there will be opportunities to think outside of the box and to learn and understand processes outside of your AOR.

- NETWORKING: Because of the close-knit size of team, members will often times interface with corporate entities, Ship personnel, TYCOM, CSS-15, CSP, CPF, customers, etc.

- WORK SCOPE: Unique environment and circumstances at the Detachment you may be exposed to work that may not been seen at the Home Yard.

- EXPERIENCE GAINED: Executing the wide range work at the Detachment will provide you with experience to bring back to the home yard, and potentially open doors for promotion.

BENEFITS AND INCENTIVES


In addition to a locality pay of 16.82% (included in Salary Table), GS employees relocating to Guam receive a Tax-free Cost of Living Allowance (COLA), now at 12.04% of annual base pay, and a Non-Foreign Post Differential (NFPD) currently set at 12.96% (taxable) of annual base pay.  The % for the COLA and the NFPD cannot exceed 25%. Percentages for the differential and the COLA are subject to change without notice.

FWS Wage Rates applicable to Guam
Eligible FWS employees recruited from outside of the insular area may be eligible for a Pay Differential of 20% of their basic pay. Percentage for the differential is subject to change without notice.

Other benefits include:

  • PCS reimbursement
  • A Relocation Incentive up to 25% of annual pay (negotiable)
  • 15 days (3 weeks) of home leave accrued annually (if eligible)
  • Carry over maximum of 360 hours of annual leave (if eligible)
  • Initial employment agreement for only 2 years, with statutory return rights to former permanent position
