CRANE, Ind. –
Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) hosted the Force Level Electromagnetic Warfare (FLEW) summit in October 2023, following its inaugural event in May .
This summit brought together 16 different organizations including National Air and Space Intelligence Center, NSWC Carderock, NSWC Crane, NSWC Dahlgren, Research and Technology Integration Directorate, and Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center Surface Warfare Technical Division.
The goal of this summit was to continue discussions from the event in May with a focus on wartime readiness.
Brad Meyer is the FLEW Operational Capability Strategist and helped lead the FLEW Test and Evaluation (T&E) discussions during the event.
“This FLEW T&E Summit extended the first FLEW Summit in May. A community of interest and collaboration is now developing to advocate for FLEW improvements for operational effectiveness,” said Meyer.
Summits like FLEW allow collaborators to focus not only on ways to support the warfighter, but they also bring together members of electromagnetic warfare community to engage and collaborate in a more focus and organized way.
“The Summit brought together multiple organizations to begin a closer collaboration. Follow through by this group is now being planned for future collaboration,” said Meyer.
The idea of FLEW is to shift focus from short-term solutions to developing long-term solutions for the warfighter.
“The crisis for supporting the Navy begins in advance of warfare. We need to take action now to maximize wartime readiness,” said Meyer.
