USS Paul Hamilton Completes Availability Early with Support from Southwest Regional Maintenance Center

By SWRMC Public Affairs

SAN DIEGO -- Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) successfully supported the early delivery of USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60) from availability on Aug. 13.

"The team's commitment to getting Paul Hamilton back in action was clearly reflected in their hard work and resulted in an early delivery," said Capt. John Bauer, commanding officer, SWRMC. "Their enthusiasm to work through and overcome any challenges is another example of SWRMC's dedication to the fleet."

During the 257 day availability, SWRMC teams collaborated with Continental Maritime of San Diego, Curtiss-Wright and South Coast Welding & Manufacturing, Inc. to conduct a variety of scheduled maintenance items.

The work accomplished during the availability was extensive and included repair of tanks, pipes and main reduction gear coolers. The team also made repairs to the fire main valves and replaced the fan coil units and reverse osmosis plant onboard.

"The synergy between SWRMC and our partners was instrumental in bringing the availability together to get Paul Hamilton completed early," said James Maguire, SWRMC project manager. "Dedicated teams, supportive players, and an optimistic CO that encouraged us throughout the availability really helped us get the work done."

SWRMC is meeting its mission to provide superior ship maintenance, modernization, technical support, and training for the Pacific Fleet.
