PANAMA CITY, Fla. –
NSWC PCD team,
For the last 7.5 years, I have had the honor to serve as your Division Technical Director. Now, I will continue my journey as I have accepted a position as the Chief Engineer at Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico.
Mr. Robert Walker will serve as Acting Technical Director, NSWC Panama City Division until a new, permanent Technical Director is in place.
It has been the greatest honor of my career to date to serve as your servant leader. I have been blessed to work with the finest team of professionals here at Panama City, all of whom are devoted to our Nation’s Warfighters.
My family and I have called Bay County home for almost 8 years and this community has become a part of who we are. I will take everything I have learned from this voyage onto the next.
I am proud of what we have accomplished over the last 7.5 years, but I am even more energized about the future of this Command. Later this year, we will celebrate 75 years as a Navy presence here in Bay County.
You have shown that nothing, not even a Category 5 Hurricane, can stand in the way of accomplishing our mission. Incoming investments will allow us to put Panama City back together better than before, and will enable the next 75 years to be even brighter than our past.
One of the toughest storms we have faced as a team was Hurricane Michael in 2018. Working alongside each of you through those hard times made me feel a sense of pride. I am proud to be part of a community that remains vigilant and resilient even in the darkest of times. Though we have conquered many storms over the years, we have always come out of every storm as One Team.
As I conclude my final View from the Bridge column, I would like to focus on the people that make our mission a success. People are the foundation of what we do and I wish each of you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
