Mr. Cleveland Williams retired from the United States Army with 20 years of service. Upon his retirement in 2003, he was accepted into the Department of the Army Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Intern Program where he was assigned at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey and Fort Monroe, Virginia. In 2005, he worked as the Informal Complaints Manager at Fort Belvoir Garrison EEO Program. In 2007, he received a promotion and served as a Regional Formal Complaints Manager for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Washington, District of Columbia. In 2008, he was promoted and served as the Black Employment Program Manager for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). In 2011, he transitioned to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency where he served as the Deputy Chief Diversity Officer. In 2012, he moved to the National Park Service and served as Affirmative Employment Program Manager. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Executive Director for the Office of Equity and Employee Support Services & EEO Director for the United States Secret Service. In this capacity, he oversaw the Chaplain, Ombudsman, Employee Assistance and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion programs. In this position, he provided strategic advice, guidance, and direction to the Secret Service Director, Deputy Director and senior leaders on all matters pertaining to EEO, Diversity, Inclusion, and the prevention of discrimination and harassment throughout the agency’s workforce.
Currently, Mr. Williams serves as Naval Sea Systems Command’s (NAVSEA) Equal Employment Opportunity Director. In this capacity, he recommends courses of action and provides advice to senior leadership on all matters pertaining to EEO and the prevention of discrimination and harassment throughout NAVSEA. He has held key leadership positions throughout his career. Mr. Williams earned a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Certification from Cornell University. He is a graduate of the Bookings Executive Education Fellows Leadership Program, the Department of Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI) Equal Opportunity Advisors Course and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management. He is also recognized as a mentor, coach, skilled trainer, and results-oriented leader. Mr. Williams is the recipient of numerous military awards and campaign medals. Additionally, he has been awarded numerous civil service and community awards for his outstanding leadership in promoting EEO, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
