The Mobile Innovation Center (formerly FabLab) is a mobile fabrication laboratory equipped with technology that demonstrates the emerging capabilities of additive manufacturing. Unlike subtractive manufacturing which removes materials to create a final product, additive manufacturing uses 3D printing technology to add materials together to create a final product.
The MIC is a place for Sailors and Navy Team members across the Waterfront to turn ideas into prototypes. Two-day classes focusing on the basics for equipment operation in the MIC are offered twice a week Monday/Tuesday and Wednesday/Thursday.
