Message from the Director

Ann BannisterSmall businesses keep our warfighters combat-ready with critical parts, cutting-edge technology, and top-notch services. They also fortify our defense supply chains in times of crisis. Therefore, it is crucial that NAVSEA increase small business participation in our acquisitions to meet the challenges of today and the future.

History has shown that our most creative entrepreneurs and driven workers help keep the Navy at the forefront of innovation, making it imperative that we extend an open hand to them. NAVSEA is committed to working with small businesses to provide the Navy with the support, systems, and platforms needed to confront the global challenges we face today.

To achieve this, NAVSEA has been intentional in improving its ability to meaningfully engage with small businesses, including firms from critical socioeconomic categories and underserved communities. We accomplish this through enhanced outreach efforts, such as our annual Small Business Industry Day, procurement-specific industry days, and attending small business events to conduct matchmaking and educate small businesses on how to participate in our industrial base.

NAVSEA ensures that its operational and acquisition leadership continues to recognize the capabilities of small businesses to support NAVSEA’s mission and that small businesses can understand and access our most current initiatives, efforts, and policies.

The NAVSEA Office of Small Business Programs is committed to aggressively expanding small business opportunities to partner with NAVSEA on its significant procurement investments for goods and services. The NAVSEA Office of Small Business Programs is the central point of contact for small business firms that want to learn more about partnering with the command as we continue to Expand the Advantage by harnessing the power of America’s small, innovative, and agile companies and to grow their contributions to NAVSEA’s mission.
