NUWC Division Newport places considerable emphasis on continuing education. Here, we view it as the primary path of professional growth for employees and as a means of expanding our No. 1 technical resource: the capabilities of our people. The programs and opportunities available here are numerous and extensive; there is something for everyone.

Examples: Master's of Science programs in concentrations including but not limited to Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Program Management; master's programs in Public and Business Administration; Management and Leadership Development Programs and courses; dozens of technical and IT short courses; and "NUWC University," which hosts classes taught by a faculty comprised of NUWC Division Newport employees who are subject matter experts in their particular technical field.

Retirement Benefits

The Federal Employees' Retirement System (FERS) is a three-tiered retirement plan made up of Social Security, a Basic Government Annuity, and a voluntary, tax-deferred Thrift Savings Plan in which you may invest up to $15,000 of your salary. The Government will match the first 5 percent.
