Upcoming PSNS & IMF annual showcase to offer variety of potential problem-solving technologies

By Max Maxfield, PSNS & IMF Public Affairs

The 2024 Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility Technology Showcase will be held July 31 – Aug. 1, at the Kitsap Conference Center in downtown Bremerton.

The event is organized to help connect problem-solving shipyard workers with vendors who have tools and technologies that might be useful in improving how the shipyard meets the command’s mission to maintain, modernize and retire the Navy’s fleet.

Around 50 exhibitors are scheduled to attend the event, ready to provide hands-on demonstrations of how their technologies might help shops and codes get the job done more quickly or more safely.

Technologies previously featured at PSNS & IMF Technology Showcase events included exoskeleton work gloves, intelligent fall protection, precision computerized measurement devices, computerized waterjet automation, cable management systems, augmented reality and power tools.

The technology showcase also supports the innovation strategy, which is part of PSNS & IMF Strategic Framework. The innovation strategy encourages employees at all levels to turn ideas into action, in order to speed up ship delivery by looking at and adopting best practices from industry. Employees should consider what processes, methods and tools private industry is using that might improve the accomplishment of the PSNS & IMF mission.

More than 1,000 attendees attended each of the two previous PSNS & IMF Technology Showcases. No less than 50 vendors were at each of those showcases.

Employees may attend the Technology Showcase with supervisor approval and as workload permits. This free event runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.

No backpacks or bags are allowed in the event by attendees. Small purses and diaper bags are permitted. Attendees are reminded to remove their badges when exiting the Controlled Industrial Area.
