The Naval Civilian Managers Association recently named Chris Klinkert, director, Code 700, Lifting and Handling Department, as the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility NCMA Manager of the Year for 2023.

The other nominees were Devon Chapman, test planning and certification manager, CVN/Surface, Code 246, Test Engineering and Planning Division; James Cook, division head, Code 1101, Executive Support Staff; Chris Hughes, carrier program manager, Code 312, Aircraft Carrier Program Office; Mike McGuire, division head, Code 105.4, Radiological Support Division; Tony Pinto, division head, Code 105.3, Radiological Monitoring Division; and Katie Sweet, deputy division head, Code 260, Fluid and Mechanical Engineering and Planning.

Klinkert was selected for her willingness “to raise her hand and accept new challenges when it comes to leadership development and improving processes,” according to her nomination packet.

“She’s a principled professional, who does a lot more doing than she does talking, and she always shares a warm smile," according to the nomination packet.
