NAVSEA disestablished its Warfighting Capability and Enterprise Readiness Directorate Oct. 1, reintegrating its components into Program Executive Office Unmanned Small Combatants (PEO USC) and other NAVSEA Directorate codes.
“As of Oct. 1, we have disestablished NAVSEA 06, the Warfighting Capability and Enterprise Readiness Directorate and have realigned the SEA 06 teams and programs with other directorates and PEOs to optimize our organizational efforts going forward. This re-alignment will help us better leverage other parts of the NAVSEA team to support the important work being done by the SEA 06 team,” said NAVSEA Commander Vice Adm. William Galinis.
Galinis and Executive Director James Smerchansky directed the disestablishment Aug. 11, and SEA 06’s 130 civilian and 18 active-duty military personnel began work in October in PEO USC; SEA 03, Cyber Engineering and Digital Transformation; SEA 05, Naval Systems Engineering; and SEA 10, Corporate Operations.
“The men and women who make up the SEA 06 workforce make a difference day-in and day-out, said Capt. Stuart Day, acting commander of SEA 06 until Oct. 1. “They are some of the most dedicated members of the workforce across the enterprise. I am extremely optimistic and excited to see how they continue to do that great work within their new organizations.”
SEA 06 program offices reorganized as follows:
- Naval Special Warfare (PMS 340) and Expeditionary Missions (PMS 408) program offices will move to PEO USC.
- Readiness and Logistics (SEA 06L): a portion of the SEA 06L staff will shift over to SEA 05R with the Chief Logistician. The portion of the team supporting Model Based Product Support (MBPS) and Legacy Logistics Information Technology systems will shift to SEA 03R. The command intends to align MBPS efforts with Program Executive Office Manpower Logistics and Business Solutions (PEO MLB) under Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) and coordination efforts continue.
- Program Management Competency Business Office (SEA 06M) will shift to SEA 10.
- National Shipbuilding Research Program (SEA 06N) will shift to SEA 05T.
- Supplier Product Quality (SEA 06P) will shift over to SEA 05R.
“The expertise within NAVSEA 06 is not being lost. It is being realigned within other parts of the command and that will benefit the enterprise,” said Lisa Wallington, program analyst, National Shipbuilding Research Program.
