PSNS & IMF begins COVID-19 vaccination roll out for workforce

Capt. Jip Mosman, commander, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility, receives the COVID-19 vaccination Feb. 10, 2021, in the former Sam Adams Brewhouse on Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton. Approximately 200 PSNS & IMF personnel received the first-of-two Moderna COVID-19 vaccine shots in what is expected to be a phased employee vaccination process.

PHNSY & IMF generosity gives Toys for Tots more than 1,000 gifts

The PHNSY & IMF workforce participated in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots campaign for the first time this year. The shipyard-wide effort gathered more than 1,000 toys to support the Navy League of the United States Honolulu Council’s effort in lieu of its annual Toys for Tots golf tournament that was suspended due to COVID-19.

HRMC Completes USS Wayne E. Meyer Availability Ahead of Schedule

Hawaii Regional Maintenance Center (HRMC) successfully delivered Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) from its Docking Selected Restricted Availability (DSRA) Jan. 29, 14 days early.

PSNS & IMF pins four Sailors to chief petty officer

Chief Petty Officer selects Matthew Bernstein, Devin Donohue, Austin Rhodes and Mark Robbins, with Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility, were pinned to the rank of chief petty officer during a ceremony Jan. 29, 2021, at Olympic Lodge on Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton, Washington. The ceremony had limited attendees, with participants and attendees socially distanced to adhere to COVID-19 protective protocols.

PSNS & IMF honors Southwest Regional Apprentice Program graduates

Capt. David T. Hart, commander, Southwest Regional Maintenance Center, and Stan Crabtree, detachment director,
Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility Detachment San Diego, present Sierra Vickers, a pipefitter with Shop 99P, Temporary Services, at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility, with the 2021 Scholastic Achievement Award. She earned a cumulative 4.0 GPA. The Southwest Regional Apprentice Program graduated 11 apprentices during an outdoor, drive-through commencement ceremony Jan. 28, 2021, in San Diego.

PHNSY & IMF successfully undocks USS Charlotte

Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility successfully undocked USS Charlotte (SSN 766) Jan. 26 from Dry Dock #3. The undocking was a major milestone in the submarine’s engineered overhaul availability.

Local High School Principal Supports Historic U.S. Navy Reserve Mobilization at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & IMF

In July 2020, the Navy began mobilizing more than 1,600 SurgeMain Reserve Sailors from across the U.S.to the four public shipyards in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  This is the first time SurgeMain has activated this many Sailors at one time for a non-humanitarian mission.
