Navy Scientists Develop Prototype for Diver Life Support

150319-N-CD100-004 PANAMA CITY, Florida (March 19, 2015) - Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City (NSWC PC) scientists developed a prototype for a new life support system for divers with the goal of accelerating Navy diver deployment, increase safety, and conserve helium. The prototype, as displayed on this mannequin is a new, semi-closed system.

U. S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye (D-HI) speaks at the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93) commissioning ceremony in Pearl Harbor. The ship is named in honor of Rear Adm. Gordon Paie'a Chung-Hoon, who was born and raised in Hawaii and awarded the Navy Cross and Silver Star for gallantry as Commanding Officer of USS Sigsbee during the Battle of Okinawa. Chung-Hoon was also assigned to USS Arizona during the Dec. 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. Chung-Hoon is the 43rd ship of 62 Arleigh Burke-class destroyers.
