NUWC Division Newport partners with US Coast Guard to evaluate use of underwater threat detection system

NEWPORT, R.I. - U.S. Coast Guard Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class Tim James, assists with a limited user evaluation of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport’s Argus Expeditionary Maritime Defense System at Naval Station Newport’s Pier 2 on May 3, 2022. The Argus team, comprised of engineers, scientists and researchers from the Ranges, Engineering and Analysis Department, partnered with the U.S. Coast Guard Research and Development Center to evaluate capabilities that could aid the Coast Guard’s detection of unmanned undersea vehicles in near-shore environments, as part of it mission to support maritime security.
