NUWC Division Newport executes the Navy’s Arctic strategy through ICEX support

NEWPORT, R.I. - Nick Savage, a diver on the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport’s Torpedo Recovery Team, surfaces from beneath the Arctic ice after successfully retrieving a test torpedo during Ice Exercise (ICEX) 2022 on March 14, 2022. ICEX 2022, a three-week exercise in the in the Beaufort Sea in the Arctic Circle, allows the Navy to assess its operational readiness, increase experience in the region, advance understanding of the Arctic environment, and continue to develop relationships with other services, allies, and partner organizations.
