LHA-8, PEO Ships, Bougainville, start fabrication

PASCAGOULA, Miss - (181015-N-IJ355-001) PASCAGOULA, Miss. -- Paul Bosarge, burner workleaderman, starts fabrication on Bougainville (LHA 8) with others observing, from left, Frank Jermyn, LHA 8 ship program manager; Lance Carnahan, Steel Fabrication director; Marine Corps Capt. J.D. Owens, representing SUPSHIP, Gulf Coast; and Ricky Hathorn, Hull general superintendent. The start of fabrication signifies the shipyard is ready for sustained production after a successful production readiness review. LHA 8 is the second ship named in honor of the Bougainville Island campaign in World War II and is scheduled to be delivered in 2024.
