Lieutenant Commander Ryan W. Collins, USN is a native of Tampa FL. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 2002 and completed the Nuclear Power training pipeline as an Electronics Technician. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2009 with Bachelor of Science Degrees in Computer Science and Information Technology.
His sea tour assignments include Division Officer aboard USS Alaska (SSBN 732)(BLUE), Engineering Officer aboard USS Alexandria (SSN 757), and Executive Officer onboard USS Tennessee (SSBN734)(BLUE). While at sea, he completed one Western Pacific deployment and six Strategic Deterrent Patrols.
On shore, he served as Flag Aide to Commander, Submarine Group Ten and on the staff of Commander, Submarine Group Eight as N4 and Group Engineer. He also served as a subject matter expert for research in cognitive autonomy for Unmanned Underwater Vehicles at Penn State Applied Research Lab. He holds a Master of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
His personal decorations include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Crops Achievement Medals, and various unit awards.
