Captain Anderson of Riverdale, GA, joined the Navy and entered the enlisted Nuclear Power training program in 1995. Upon completion of initial training, his first assignment was on board the Deep Submergence Vessel NR-1 in Groton, CT. While attached to the NR-1 he was selected for the Nuclear Enlisted Commissioning Program (NECP) and attended Auburn University.
Captain Anderson’s sea tours include junior officer aboard USS Wyoming (SSBN 742)(BLUE) where he completed five strategic deterrent patrols. Combat Systems Officer (CSO) aboard USS New Hampshire (SSN778) where he completed a EUCOM/AFRICOM deployment and various other operations vital to national security. Executive Officer aboard USS West Virginia (SSBN 736)(GOLD) where he completed Demonstration and Shakedown Operations (DASO) and 1 strategic deterrent patrol. Commanding Officer aboard USS Rhode Island (SSBN 740)(GOLD) where he completed DASO and three strategic deterrent patrols.
Captain Anderson’s shore tours include instructor at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC), student at Air Command and Staff College (ACSC), Advanced Training and Tactical Readiness Department Head at Naval Submarine School, Operations and Material Readiness Department Head Commander Submarine Group 10 (CSG10), and Deputy Commodore for Training Commander Submarine Squadron 20 (CSS20).
Captain Anderson earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University, Masters of Arts in Management and Leadership from Webster University, and a Masters of Military Operational Art & Science and Joint Professional Military Education from ACSC.
Captain Anderson’s personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (eight awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various unit citations.
