Master Chief Michael C. Gosart

Command Senior Enlisted Leader, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility

Master Chief Michael C. Gosart, a native of Keller, Texas, volunteered to serve in the United States Navy on Sept. 16, 1996.  Following basic training, he attending Advanced Electronic Computer Field technical core and Electronics Technician ‘A’ school in Great Lakes, Ill.

After ‘A’ school, he attended ‘C’ school in San Diego, before reporting to the USS Germantown (LSD 42) in Sasebo, Japan (1998-2002). He served as a WCS and LPO for OE division, and was advanced to E5 through the Command Advancement Program.

His next tour was at Naval Radio Transmitter Facility Okinawa, Japan (2002-2005), where he advanced to E6 and served as an LPO over vital LF, TSCOMM, and SURTASS missions.

He then reported to the USS Lake Champlain (CG 57) in San Diego (2005-2007), where he became the 2006 Ronald Reagan/Command Carrier Strike Group Seven Sailor of the Year and was advanced to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After advancing, he was transferred to the USS Vandegrift (FFG 48) in San Diego (2007-2008), where he was the Combat Systems Maintenance Manager, CS DLCPO, CE Division LCPO, OI Division LCPO, and EKMS Manager.

Next, he was stationed at Joint Forces Command Headquarters Naples, Italy (2009-2012), where he was integrated into the 2nd NATO Signal Battalion’s Deployable Communications Module Alpha. While there, he participated in multiple exercises, deployed to Afghanistan, and created a new UIC to permanently place U. S. Navy personnel into the unit.

Next, he served at Special Reconnaissance Team Two in Little Creek, Va. (2012-2017), as DLCPO over 2 departments and as the command SEA. He deployed multiple times and was advanced to Senior Chief.

After his NSW tour, he was stationed at Norfolk Naval Shipyard’s (Va.) Mid-Atlantic Regional Calibration Center (2017-2019), where he was the a Deputy Director and DLCPO of  the world’s most premiere calibration facility. Additionally, he was Norfolk Naval Shipyard’s stand in Command Master Chief.

He then requested to go to sea one year early and reported to the USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26) in San Diego (2019-2022), as the Combat System Senior Enlisted, CS DLCPO, and the Combat Systems Maintenance Manager. While there he completed his 14th deployment and was advanced to Master Chief.

Master Chief is authorized to wear the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1), the Joint Commendation Medal (1), the Navy Commendation Medal (3), the Army Commendation Medal (1), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6), the Combat Action Ribbon (1), and various other campaign and service awards.

He is qualified as an Enlisted Expeditionary Warfare Specialist (EXW), an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (SW), and an Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist (EIWS).

Gosart is married to Kimberley and they have two children, Devin (2013) and Lukasz (2015).
