NEWPORT, RI - NUWC Division Newport, one of two divisions of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, is the Navy's full-spectrum research, development, test and evaluation, engineering, and fleet support center for submarine warfare systems and many other systems associated with the undersea battlespace.

In-Service Engineering Support

WHAT WE DO MATTERS: In-service engineering and at-sea testing to advance U.S. Navy systems are some of the ways NUWC Division Newport supports the fleet.

UUV Launch and Recovery

WHAT WE DO MATTERS: Division Newport’s Engineering and Diving Support Unit provided launch and recovery support for an LDUUV at the Narragansett Bay Test Facility in 2022.

Award-Winning Scientists and Engineers

The AN/BYG-1 Combat Control VTwin Team won the 2020 Assistant Secretary of the Navy RD&A Dr. Delores M. Etter Top Scientists and Engineers Award.

Naval Station Newport transitioned to Health Protection Condition (HPCON) Alpha on Feb. 25, 2023. At this time, while Newport County is at a LOW status for COVID, there are currently no COVID-19 requirements.
