Environmental Policy Statement

 

The U.S. Naval Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center is committed to our mission to successfully “Keep the 7th Fleet Operational Ready”. Our goal is to ensure SRF-JRMC operates in an environmentally responsible manner by complying with applicable Japan Environmental Governing Standards (JEGS), federal environmental laws, executive orders, and Department of Defense and Department of Navy policies. I ask each and every one of you to follow my lead and show respect to our host nation by protecting our environment.

We are committed to preventing pollution at its source whenever possible. To achieve our goals, we have adopted the following guidelines for our Environmental Management System (EMS) through:

  • Integrating the EMS requirements into our current work practices and processes without adversely impacting cost, productivity, or the environment.
     
  • Continually improving our EMS, operations, and processes to enhance environmental performance and pollution prevention.
     
  • Periodic management reviews to assess progress towards environmental goals.
     
  • Operating in a manner to protect the environment while effectively executing SRF-JRMC ship repair and maintenance.
     
  • Conserving resources by reducing, reusing, recycling, and purchasing recycled materials, wherever possible.
     
  • Reporting spills promptly and taking appropriate action. 
     
  • Educating our diverse workforce about their responsibilities to the environment.
     
  • Providing sufficient resources to ensure environmental compliance.
     
  • Communication from senior leadership of our organization about our environmental commitments and performance.
     
  • Identifying and developing significant aspects annually to achieve the intended EMS outcomes through defined Objectives and Targets.

I believe environmental stewardship is every person’s responsibility. To accomplish this, I challenge every one of you to work as a team to protect and preserve our environment for future generations.

環境方針

 

米国海軍艦船修理廠及び日本地区造修統括本部（SRF-JRMC）は、「第 7 艦隊の艦船を常に機能できる状態に保つ」という使命を揺るぎなく遂行しています。私たちの目標は、SRF-JRMC の運営が日本環境管理基準（JEGS）、連邦環境法、行政命令、国防総省および海軍省の方針を遵守することで、確実に環境に対しての責務を果たすことです。皆さん一人一人が私のリーダーシップに従い、環境保護を通じてホスト国に敬意を示してください。.

私たちは可能な限り汚染の発生源を防止することに、責任を持って取り組んでいます。目標を達成するために、以下のガイドラインを環境マネジメントシステム（EMS）に採用しています：

  • EMS の要求事項を、コスト、生産性、環境に悪影響を与えることなく、現在の業務活動やプロセスに統合すること。
     
  • 環境パフォーマンスと汚染防止を強化するため、EMS、業務、プロセスを継続的に改善すること。
     
  • 環境目標に対する進捗を評価するための定期的なマネジメントレビューを実施すること。
     
  • SRF-JRMC の艦船修理と整備を効果的に実行しながら、環境を保護する方法で運営すること。
     
  • 可能な限り資源を節約し、再利用、リサイクル、再生可能な材料の購入を行うこと。
     
  • 流出（スピル）が発生した場合、速やかに報告し、適切な対応を取ること。
       
  • 多様な労働力に対して、環境に対する責任に関して教育を行うこと。
     
  • 環境遵守を確実にするための十分な資源を提供すること。
     
  • 環境へのコミットメントとパフォーマンスについて、組織の上層部からのコミュニケーションを行うこと。
     
  • 定義された目的と目標を通じて、毎年著しい環境側面を特定し、EMS の意図した成果を達成すること。

私は、環境保護はすべての人の責任であると考えています。この目標を達成するために、皆さん一人一人がチームとして協力し、未来の世代のために環境を守り、保護して行きましょう。
