PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii - The Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF) made strides, recently, in improving and streamlining a receipt inspection process when maintenance parts arrive at the shipyard. The effort was part of Naval Sea Systems Command’s Naval Sustainment System – Shipyards (NSS-SY) program that began in 2019 as a pilot program designed to remove barriers to productivity. The process improvement was related to a backlog in receipt inspection process that had affected the timely distribution of material and parts to ships undergoing maintenance availabilities.
