Following completion of its conversion work at Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), the future moored training ship USS San Francisco (SSN 711) was towed down to Charleston, South Carolina Aug. 16.  
San Francisco will serve as a modern training platform for Sailors at the Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU)—Charleston.

NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD, Portsmouth, Va. - Following completion of its conversion work at Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), the future moored training ship USS San Francisco (SSN 711) was towed down to Charleston, South Carolina Aug. 16. San Francisco will serve as a modern training platform for Sailors at the Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU)—Charleston.
