Alligator 2014. Miller spoke at the National Disability Employment Awareness Month observance held at Combat Direction Systems Activity, Dam Neck, Va., Oct. 28, 2015. The EOD Chief received the Purple Heart Medal and a Bronze Star Medal with Valor after he was severely injured by a land mine in Afghanistan. He received rehabilitation treatment at Bethesda Walter Reed Medical Center where he persevered and was able to walk again in 31 days, returning to work within three months. He fought to remain on active duty status and is preparing for another deployment.
