Department of the Navy logo1. What uniform do I need to wear when reporting?

When reporting to NNPTC, be in the seasonal dress uniform. NNPTC is in alignment with Navy Region Southeast Zone 3 uniform shifts. The prescribed Monday through Thursday uniform of the day is the Navy Working Uniform (NWU) Type III for staff and students. The coyote brown boot is authorized for staff members, and the black 9-inch non-spark safety boot is authorized for students. The prescribed Friday uniform of the day is Khakis or the Navy Service Uniform. On days which a NPS graduation is scheduled, the prescribed uniform of the day for staff and students is the Navy Service Dress Blue Uniform (SDB) during winter months and the Navy Summer White Uniform or the Navy Service Dress White Uniform during summer months.

2. What is the weather like in Charleston?

Summers are hot and humid with July and August typically the warmest months. Summer high temperatures average 90 degrees. Winters are mild with average temperatures in the 50's. Hurricane season begins June 1 and ends November 30.

3. When can I drive my car on base?

Enlisted Students: Driving on base will not be allowed (unless you are married) until first phase of training is complete. After that, Privately Owned Vehicles (POVs) are authorized for all students.

Officer Students: There are no restrictions on POVs or driving on base.
