Naval Sea Systems Command

“As a former ship CO, it’s awesome to see the collaborative assessment team here at the Joint Warfare Assessment Lab supporting ships at sea.” – Eric Ver Hage, Captain, U.S. Navy

As the Navy's independent performance assessment agent for warfare and combat systems, NSWC Corona's Performance Assessment Department provides missile flight analysis for Area Defense, Self Defense and Strike Warfare; engineering analysis and liaison efforts to support and assess major fleet exercises; and develops, operates and maintains communications, computing and instrumentation systems required for the collection, analysis and dissemination of data.

Jay Kadowaki confer as Combat Systems Ship Qualification Trials for the Navy's newest Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers are conducted in the Atlantic Ocean. NSWC Corona oversaw collaborative analysis teams at the Navy's Joint Warfare Assessment Laboratory marking the ships' latest live-fire missile exercises with installed Aegis Combat system upgrades.

The Performance Assessment Department serves as the independent analysis and assessment agent across several warfare areas including Air Defense, Integrated Air and Missile Defense, Surface, Strike, and, Cyber. The department's expertise is utilized across unit level, multi-ship, and strike group compositions. The department has developed key information system capabilities (communications, computing, software, and instrumentation) to perform combat system and missile telemetry data management (DM), on-site data analysis (DA), and off-board worldwide data transfer across brown, green, and blue water environments. The advanced DM and DA capabilities support emerging combat systems, baseline upgrades, and regression testing. The department provides combat systems assessments and performance reports. This flexibility and depth provides Navy leadership with indices of combat readiness and identification of performance limiters and drivers across the lifecycle.
